FOR SALE due to two other projects on the go and space is needed this car is going cheap:
1972 Volvo 1800ES in red (46), been laid up since 2005 and is an excellent
base for a rolling restoration.
There is corrosion around both front headlights and side lights and the lower
sections of front wings in front of the doors. Also some rust on both outer
sills and bottoms of the doors. The floor pan section behind the driver’s
seat needs replacing but the rest of floor is in good condition. The wheel
arches are straight and not rusted and the rear of car is in great
condition as is the chassis.
The front seats need recovering but rest of interior just needs a good
clean, the dashboard is great. All chrome is straight including the grill
surround.
The engine bay has been surface Ziebarted and although this has protected
the paintwork it could do with cleaning off as the paintwork underneath is
fantastic. There are Ziebart plugs in the door apertures, bonnet edge and
around the rear wings and it has worked well as preservation.
The five wheels are in good condition and just need a polish, it also has a stainless steel exhaust fitted.
After changing out some split injection hoses, fitting new plugs and charging the battery I drove this round the block and it drives very well, gearbox is smooth as is the overdrive. It stops well and the handbrake works as it should.
A good honest restoration project with no hidden rust and body filler, what
